A beginning...

Knowlton Church

Hey, hello! Welcome to my first blog.

First up, thanks for stopping by and thanks for making it along this far. So since I've decided to pitch a flag and stake this little corner of the internet claiming it as my own I thought I would indulge myself with a blog.

Now it is very important to lay the ground rules of what this will be, first off I promise not to update this regularly or even at all, it will be subject to my every whim which means I might not even harp on about photography at all.

Any further updates may just be rambling for the sake of rambling purposes, but hopefully not this one at least.

So a little about myself and my photography is called for I feel.

While growing up (still working on that particular feat) anyone foolish enough (namely my mother and father) to allow me to hold a camera would eventually receive their prints back with a lovely shot in which the frame cut off half of someone's head or was blurred beyond belief (I believe it's not referred to as ICM, intentional camera movement. Very arty darlings).

So it was probably a surprise to all when I decided in 2009 to purchase my first SLR camera, coming to the end of a period (read no money left whatsoever) in my life where track days ruled the roost, I started attending purely as a spectator and started taking note of the cameras people wielded.

Combined with a holiday to Hawaii I decided that the purchase was warranted and fully justified in what would be my new hobby (never letting a lack of money come between myself and what I want).

So years after I went around pointing it at any car and pretty much anything else I calmed down bought a tripod and found something I truly enjoy and might me pretty good at, landscape photography.

It satisfies like few other things in life, if I might be so bold. I would suggest spending a pleasant day, maybe with a friend going to climb a hill and sit overlooking a landscape you find beautiful (now here's the fun bit) if you have a camera, use it if you want, but perhaps instead use the best photographic equipment you have, your head... Watch and listen to the landscape before you, see how the light changes over time. Isn't it glorious?

Well that's the end of my first blog, still with me? Good, thanks for sticking around.

I'll sign off this particular post my dedicating it to my father, taken from me while I was a boy who thought he was a man, had to be a man for people around him. I will always miss him and lament the man I might have become with his continued input into my life. I hope this fickle being in that sits hammering on a keyboard is at least someone he could be proud of. It is with his initial input taking myself and my brother out most Sunday's to the gravel pits seeing Kingfishers and the likes that I suspect my love of landscapes was really seeded.
